The Australian Weightlifting Federation is intending to conduct a national online competition starting Monday 2 November and concluding Friday 6 November, 2020. The competition is a head to head bodyweight category competition conducted in real-time by an online announcer and lifts are adjudicated by online referees.
Requires individuals to attend a weekend face-to-face course, approximately 10 hours of self-study and the completion of assessment materials. The only prerequisite is the completion of the Level 1 and there is no minimum coaching experience requirement.
The 2020 National Senior, U23, Junior, Youth and U15 Championships scheduled to be held in Sydney on 24-28 November have been cancelled.
Members of Weightlifting Tasmania, please be advised that there are two events in which you can participate while the Covid-19 restrictions are in force and state and national events are postponed.
The board of Weightlifting Tasmania regrets that the 2020 State Masters Championships and Presidents Cup Round 3 that is scheduled for 4 April will be POSTPONED. The new date on which this event will run is not known as yet.
The WTI Under 20/Under 23 Championships at Crossfit Levitate on Saturday 14 March will GO AHEAD at this stage. As of 1:00pm on Friday 13 March, there has been NO decision to cancel.
In 2020, it is proposed that athletes representing Tasmania will need to purchase team apparel. Some discussion of this will take place at the annual general meeting on Saturday 14 March following the competiiton at Crossfit Levitate.
